Job Description
The Department of Psychiatry at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, in Sydney, Nova Scotia is seeking psychiatrists to provide care to Cape Breton Regional Municipality. The successful candidate will join a cohesive team with established members from diverse backgrounds that provides high-quality care. The inpatient and community outpatient teams consist of social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, and psychologists.
Sydney has three inpatient mental health units and three inpatient withdrawal management/detox units.
In Cape Breton, satellite clinics for mental health and addictions operate in the following communities:
- Inverness
- New Waterford
- Glace Bay
- North Sydney

Responsibilities
- Provide on call coverage to inpatient mental health units and emergency departments
- Provide in-house consultations
- Support community outreach teams
- Provide a full scope of care to adults, and seniors
- Support clozapine and depot clinics
- Offer consultations for adults with neurodevelopment disorders
- Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
Expected Hours
- Permanent Full-Time
- Call is required, shared amongst the group
Remuneration
- $236.01 per hour
- Hourly Arrangement as per the Physician Agreement - Doctors Nova Scotia

Qualifications
- All specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada(RCPSC)
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
