About Nova Scotia Health
Nova Scotia Health (NSH) provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Atlantic Canadians. We operate hospitals, health centres, and community-based programs across the province. We average more than 70,000 surgeries annually take place in our operating rooms, performed over one million diagnostic imaging exams, and more than 500,000 people visit our emergency rooms. Our entire health system is under a provincial transformation called Action For Health (novascotia.ca) which involves expansion of access to primary care and surgical services, new modernized facilities and information systems, and a world-class innovation team.
NSH is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia, with a workforce of more than 28,000 professionals. Our team includes employees, physicians, researchers, learners and volunteers who work together to provide a full range of health services. We work in partnership with community groups, schools, governments, foundations and auxiliaries and community health boards. Whether we are hosting wellness programs in the community, conducting innovative research in labs, or helping a patient recover in hospital, we are creating a healthier Nova Scotia.
