Sheet Harbour Family Practice is a collaborative, community-based family medicine clinic located within Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, part of Nova Scotia Health’s Eastern Shore network. The clinic provides comprehensive primary care in a supportive, hospital-integrated setting with strong administrative and interdisciplinary support.

Physicians practice alongside a dedicated team that prioritizes high-quality patient care, continuity, and work-life balance in a close-knit coastal community.

Job Description

We are seeking a Family Physician to join our established practice in Sheet Harbour. The successful candidate will assume the patient panel of a retiring physician and provide community-based family medicine within a collegial, well-supported hospital environment.

The role includes clinic-based care, Urgent Treatment Centre coverage, and Long-Term Care support, with all services conveniently located on the same property.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive community family medicine
  • Assume an established patient panel from a retiring physician
  • Provide coverage for the on-site Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
  • Provide Long-Term Care (LTC) coverage at Harbourview Lodge
    • Weekly rounding
  • Participate in a shared call rota
    • Overnight call for UTC/LTC (call volume is extremely low)
  • Provide occasional evening and after-hours coverage
  • Collaborate with on-site interdisciplinary and allied health provider

    Expected Hours
  • Clinic hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. As per the LFM contract, physicians can also provide a certain amount of virtual/phone call access for their patients after hours if desired. 
  • Occasional evening and after-hours coverage on site 
  • Shared overnight call for UTC/LTC (minimal frequency)
