Community Details

Bear River is a small charming village, of approximately 800, situated at the head of the tidewaters, located six kilometers inland on a tidal river of the Bay of Fundy. The river itself is the border between the Annapolis and Digby counties of Nova Scotia and thus, splits the village so that half the village is in Annapolis County and the other half in Digby County. The tide rises and falls approximately 25 feet twice a day due to the dramatic Fundy tides, the highest on earth!

Known as the 'tidal village on stilts', Bear River offers shopsstudiosgalleries, and a vineyard and a haven for musicians and artisans. The village is adjacent to the Bear River First Nation.
