

Company Description
Musquodoboit Harbour Family Practice and the team at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital are seeking a full-time Family Physician to join their welcoming, supportive, and collaborative team, consisting of six physicians and two Nurse Practitioners, along with a broader site-based team which includes Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Dietitians. The Family Physician will provide a combination of office-based primary care (at the Musquodoboit Harbour Family Practice location), coverage for the long-term care facility (the Birches), ED shifts and inpatient bed coverage at the Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. A physician in this area needs to support a combination of the services needed in the community.
Compensation is through the Longitudinal Family Medicine Rural contract type, which remunerates physicians according to the number of services they provide. Estimated salary for a physician providing office-based family practice, ED, inpatient and LTC coverage is $440,000
Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital is located in Musquodoboit Harbour and is a short 40-minute drive from Halifax (30 minutes from Dartmouth).
Job Description
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
- Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patient’s advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
- Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

- Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
