Company Description

Yarmouth is seeking full-time and part-time family physicians to join a collaborative team to provide office-based comprehensive primary care with their fellow physicians and other care providers at the practice. The successful candidate will also have the option of joining the hospitalist group to provide inpatient care at Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH). They may also participate in teaching through the Dalhousie University Family Medicine residency program based in Yarmouth, and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University. In addition, there is opportunity for the successful candidate will provide nursing home care, take on emergency department shifts or join the group of family medicine physicians who provide primary maternity care and low risk deliveries. YRH was originally founded in 1912 and has developed into a vast health care complex serving the 58,000 people of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby Counties. Located in Yarmouth, YRH has 124 inpatient beds and provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient and satellite programs:

Responsibilities

  • ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
  • continuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or community
  • provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level heath care
  • build to capacity within the first two years
  • operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • work toward same day or next day access for the practice population
  • work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needs
  • work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required
  • participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
  • utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members
