Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHCC) is seeking full-time Emergency Medicine Physicians to join their team. Open to Family Physicians with an interest in Emergency Medicine. Plus 1 desired but not mandatory.
This newly renovated and expanded Level 2 emergency department provides 24/7 access to emergency services. CRHCC offers a wide range of primary and secondary services through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services and programs.
24 hour on site physician support services:
- Internal Medicine/ICU
- General surgery
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Neonatal care
- Diagnostic Imagining
- Anesthesiology
Job Description
Responsibilities
- provide leadership in the resuscitation and stabilization of major trauma patients and critically ill patients
- appropriately assess and manage the full spectrum of emergency medicine presentations from injury to unexpected and undifferentiated medical and surgical illness in all ages, to mental health emergencies
Expected Hours
- full-time is defined at 1340 hours per annum, and will involve rotational shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays
- current shifts are 12h in length with potential for an evening cover shift
- occasional rotations through other Northern Zone Emergency Departments may be required to meet critical operational requirements

Qualifications
- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- all family physician must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- all applicants must have a current PALSCertification
- all applicants must have a current ATLSCertification
- all applicants must have a current ACLSCertification
- For those applicants not holding current CCFP(EM) or FRCPC credentials , ACLS/ATLS/PALS and Advanced Airway certifications are mandatory
- ED US training is also strongly desirable and supported by the department
