Company Description

St Martha's Regional Hospital (SMRH) has permanent opportunities available for emergency medicine physicians.  SMRH serves the health care needs of the residents of communities in Antigonish County and is the regional referral site supporting patients from Guysborough, Strait-Richmond, and the southern portion of Inverness County.  This is a Level 2 Emergency Department in a 94-bed hospital. 

The site also houses a number of other interdisciplinary services:

  • rehabilitation centre
  • diabetes education
  • diagnostic imaging
  • dietitian
  • emergency department
  • foot care clinic
  • hemodialysis
  • laboratory services
  • mental health & addictions services
  • occupational therapy
  • palliative care
  • physiotherapy
  • social work

Job Description

Responsibilities

Duties include full scope of practice as an emergency physician providing care to patients within the Eastern Zone and participating in call.
The physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head for Emergency Medicine for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

 

Expected Hours

Full-time hours; 8-12 hour shifts. 

Within 20 minutes of hospital when on call.
