The North End Community Health Centre (NECHC) is a full-service, multidisciplinary Primary Health Care Clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive, client-centered care. Open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional hours on Wednesday afternoons, the NECHC offers a collaborative approach to health and wellness. Our interdisciplinary team—comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, crisis counsellors, dietitians, and other health professionals—works together to deliver a wide range of medical services and community programs. This integrated model ensures that clients receive coordinated support that addresses their physical, mental, and social well-being.
Job Description
NECHC is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage from August 2025 until May 2026.
Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.
Qualifications
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
