The Department of Medicine at Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health seeks applications for a Heart Failure/Heart Transplant Cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is for full time position with flexible start date.
The Division of Cardiology is one of 15 divisions within the Department of Medicine and is a leader of tertiary and quaternary clinical services in the Atlantic Provinces. Job Description
The QEII Health Sciences Centre is the quaternary care center for Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) and cardiac transplant for all the Atlantic provinces. The Heart Failure and Transplantation Program includes Heart Function clinic, Heart Transplantation and Advanced Heart Failure clinic, Cardiomyopathy clinic and Cardio-Oncology clinic. The successful candidate will work closely with the Division of Cardiac Surgery and the Multi Organ Transplant Program. The candidate is also expected to work as an attending on the general cardiology inpatient units (10 weeks per year) and will be on call for general cardiology and heart failure/transplant which include cardiogenic shock team.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold FRCPC (or equivalent) certification in Internal Medicine and subspecialty certification in Cardiology. Candidates must have advanced training in heart failure and heart transplant. Preference will be given to candidates with Level 3 Echocardiography and/or special interest in cardio-oncology and cardiomyopathy (such as amyloidosis, sarcoidosis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). Candidates must be eligible for specialty licensure in Nova Scotia.
