Additional Information
Community Details
Fall River is a suburban community in Nova Scotia, Canada, situated within the Halifax Regional Municipality. Located north-northeast of the Bedford Basin, northeast of Bedford and Lower Sackville, and north of Waverley, it offers a balance of natural beauty and suburban convenience.
The community’s name originates from a stream that once flowed between Miller Lake and Lake Thomas, featuring a waterfall that historically powered several mills in the 19th century and later supported a local electrical utility in the early 20th century. Although the waterfall was removed in the late 1950s to accommodate the construction of the Bicentennial Highway, hydroelectric power generation continues through a tunnel system that redirects water from Miller Lake to turbines, supplying electricity to the main grid during peak periods.
Today, Fall River is known for its scenic lakes, strong community spirit, and proximity to Halifax, making it an attractive place for families and professionals seeking a quieter lifestyle with easy access to urban amenities.
