Nova Scotia Health is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Zone Medical Site Lead for Hants Community Hospital within the Central Zone. The Hants Medical Site Lead will function in a co leadership relationship with the site and service-based health services Director(s) to manage the daily operations of the hospital. Within the context of the overall delivery of healthcare services within the Zone.
Job Description
Mandate and Accountability:
The Medical Site Lead works in a co–leadership relationship with the Director and is accountable to the Central Zone Medical Executive Director. The Medical Site Lead works with the local physicians to ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained by the medical staff, in accordance with the law, the By-laws, the Rules and Regulations, licensing and accreditation standards. The Medical Site Lead brings a clinician perspective to all relevant operational and administrative issues related to the function of each site with particular focus on quality and patient safety.
Qualifications
We are seeking a physician who:
- Currently holds NSHA privileges
- 5 -7 years of progressive leadership experience considered an asset
- Demonstrated expertise in the areas of:
- access,
- flow
- quality
- evaluation
- utilization
- team building and collaboration
Additional Information
Responsibilities
- Ensures that medical staff working at the sites are compliant with the Bylaws and Rules and regulations of the NSHA;
- Brings forward issues and perspectives of Medical Staff at the applicable site to the Zone Medical Executive Director for consideration and/or resolution;
- Work with Co-leader and applicable staff at the site to oversee daily operations and address issues as they arise.
- Serves as Physician Lead for Emergency Preparedness activities
- Assists in managing site overcapacity issues by being the point of contact for medical staff;
- Conducting and attending regular meetings as assigned by the Zone Medical Executive Director;
- Participates in the monitoring of standards, quality, and utilization of resources of the sites;
- Participates in any clinical services planning for the Zone;
- Participates in recruitment/retention activities at the sites;
- Participates in Leadership development.
Provide consultation, as required, to the Zone Medical Executive Director and Zone Leadership team
Compensation: Based on qualifications and estimated to be 0.1-0.2 FTE
