Our clinic is home to a team of three experienced physicians and a family practice nurse, all committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to our patients.

Teaching Opportunity:
Geriatrics in Motion offers an exciting teaching opportunity for physicians. As part of your role, you will have the chance to mentor medical students and residents, contributing to the next generation of healthcare professionals while refining your own skills.
Collaborative Environment:
Our clinic operates on a cost-sharing model among the physicians, providing a collaborative and supportive work environment. The monthly overhead fluctuates, depending on factors such as lease costs and other operational expenses, allowing for flexibility and shared responsibility.
Support Team:
The clinic is supported by a dedicated front-office team, including one office manager and two medical administrative assistants, ensuring smooth daily operations and a seamless experience for both patients and staff.
Job Description
About the Role:
Geriatrics in Motion is actively recruiting for a locum or short-term appointment physician to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled physician to contribute to a well-established clinic within the vibrant Clayton Park community in Halifax, while taking over a roster of approximately 1,000 patients.
The role is designed with flexibility, offering a primary care portion (0.6 FTE), where you will manage a diverse patient base, followed by a commitment to long-term care and retirement living residents for the remainder of your time. This is an ideal position for someone seeking a balanced mix of primary care and geriatric services, with the opportunity to expand your expertise in long-term care settings.
Responsibilities
- Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
- Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patient’s advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
- Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected Hours
Starting in January 2025 Full-time and part-time available
Qualifications
- Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
