Company Description

The Division of Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgery at Dalhousie University, IWK Health and Nova Scotia Health (NSH) (http://neurosurgery.medicine.dal.ca/) is seeking an academic pediatric neurosurgeon. The Division’s ten neurosurgeons provide tertiary care services to the province of Nova Scotia (population 1,072,000) and quaternary neurosurgical care services to Atlantic Canada (2.5 million). Pediatric Neurosurgery is a foundational program at the IWK and provides comprehensive care and treatment for patients across Atlantic Canada with neurosurgical conditions.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a significant portion of time devoted to research. Clinical work will be focused on pediatric neurosurgery and will include a component of complementary general adult neurosurgery.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and eligible for licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and have additional fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery. A demonstrated interest and experience in teaching and resident training will be viewed as an asset. The ability to lead a research program and to foster collaborative research, including quality improvement, is highly valued.

The successful candidate will receive an academic rank in the Faculty of Medicine commensurate with qualifications and experience.
