Company Description

Dalhousie’s Student Health & Wellness Centre located on the Halifax Campus is seeking a family practice physician to provide locum coverage starting Fall 2024, with the opportunity to permanently join the practice.

The locum commitment can be a mix of community and university student patients, at your discretion. Commitment would be 3 days a week (or more). There is an immediate opportunity to permanently join the clinic if you would prefer (rather than locuming).

Our Centre is committed to providing quality primary and mental health care services to promote and enhance both community and student patients’ health.

The physician will work collaboratively with the Centre's interprofessional team of family physicians (15), family practice ob physicians (2), a nurse manager and registered nurses (3), a psychiatrist, counsellors (9 FTE) and health promotion staff. Our clinical team is supported by an experienced administrative staff who manage scheduling, reception, referrals, nursing office duties, along with all billing and health records functions. This team has monthly physician meetings (discussion of clinic and provincial policies), monthly optional informal physician luncheons (socializing, interesting case review), PBSGL available, frequent social gatherings for holidays (annual boat cruises, Christmas parties, and frequent in-clinic celebrations).

The Dalhousie Student Health & Wellness Centre is located at 1246 Lemarchant Street in downtown Halifax, as part of the Dalhousie University campus. It is in a new building with two procedure suites equipped with OR lights and procedural equipment.

Overhead is extremely competitive at 25% of claims. Physicians on the LFM will be charged overhead on the total book value of a fee for service encounter only. The clinic is not charging overhead on the roster or hours portion of the LFM. This can be discussed in more detail with the clinic manager.

Accuro is the EMR.

If you are seeking a community of collegial, experienced physicians and having the full support of an interdisciplinary team, this is the spot for you!
