About the Opportunity
Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) is seeking an anesthesiologist to work with a collegial team of ten anesthesiologists who value work-life balance.
Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.
Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. The facility completes approximately 5,800 cases/year with 800 deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.

Job Description
Responsibilities
- work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients within Western Zone
- surgical services covered at VRH include: general surgery, orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, ENT (including pediatric inpatients)
- special interest in intensive care and/or pain management would be assets
- participating in call shifts
- provide support to the Western Zone if required, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- be responsible to the Zone Anesthesia Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority

- equal participation in 1:10 on-call schedule (on-call stipend available)
Qualifications
Qualifications
- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- all specialists must be eligible for certification with theRoyal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- membership with theCanadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
