

Company Description
The Halifax Primary Care Clinic supports the management of patients without a primary care provider for needs unable to be delivered though Virtual Care NS. This team will be supported by family physicians, nurse practitioners, family practice nurses, pharmacist, physiotherapist, continuing care coordinators, and care team assistants. On-site administrative support is available for all providers. This clinic is conveniently located in the Halifax Shopping Centre on Mumford Road.
This clinic offers support for non-rostered patients of all ages. The incoming physician(s) would be expected to provide care to a broadly defined socio-demographic patient population.
Payment for this position is on a sessional hourly rate as per the 2023-2027 Physician Agreement. There is no overhead for this position
The clinic is seeking a physician(s) who can commit to 0.5 FTE (i.e., 2 and ½ days per week) or more (1.0 FTE is available).
The physician must be eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia in order to be considered.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Examine patients, take health histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
Consult and refer to other medical practitioners and follow-up as needed Delivery of primary care to patients with complex medical needs until they are assigned to a permanent provider
Act as advocate for patients' care needs
Prescribe and administer medications, treatments, and immunizations,
Report births, deaths, contagious and other reportable conditions as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Participate collaboratively as a member of the primary care team
Actively participate in continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and primary care developmental initiatives to optimize access to patient-centered care

Full or part time hours – The clinic is seeking a physician(s) who can commit to 0.5 FTE (i.e., 2 and ½ days per week) or more (1.0 FTE is available).
Qualifications
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
