Company Description

Digby General Hospital (DGH), historically founded in 1924, provides medical care to residents of the surrounding areas including primary, inpatient, restorative, and ambulatory care as well as day surgery. Located in Digby, the 20-bed medical and alternate level of care (ALC) unit works closely with the collaborative emergency centre (CEC) in Annapolis Royal and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. DGH also has a 13-bed restorative care unit that supports patients through rehabilitation.

Job Description

DGH is actively seeking locum physicians to provide coverage in their Emergency Department during a period of active recruitment.

  • Schedule: The Emergency Department operates on a two-shift schedule, with 12-hour shifts and single-provider coverage.
  • Support: The team fosters a collaborative and supportive environment. Locum physicians will be well-supported by a team that truly embodies teamwork and is always available for guidance.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dedicated and welcoming group of professionals while making a meaningful contribution to the community.

Responsibilities

  • examine patients, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • act as a patient advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations

Expected Hours

  • full-time, part-time and locum
