Job Description

Yarmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time general surgeon to be part of a team of five general surgeons. Regular OR, endoscopy and minor procedure time are offered. Responsibilities

  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
  • Work a full scope of practice as a general surgeon providing a full spectrum of general surgical services appropriate to a secondary care centre, including endoscopy
  • Provide support to your own site and to others in Western Zone if required, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • Be responsible to the Zone Department Head for Surgery for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
  • Opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical graduates and residents

Expected Hours

  • Permanent Full-Time
  • 1:4 to 1:5 on-call requirement

Remuneration

  • $350,000 to $450,000 annually - your annual income will depend solely on your own clinical output
  • Fee for Service
  • on-call stipends and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia
