Company Description

The Department of Pathology at Dalhousie University in Halifax seeks to recruit two Neuropathologists for the Division of Anatomical Pathology.

The QEII HSC, part of the Central Zone of the Nova Scotia Health, is a large tertiary health care institution affiliated with Dalhousie University.  It provides a broad range of medical care to patients in the Maritime Provinces and beyond.  Yearly, the Division handles around 200 Neurosurgical pathology cases, 25 Muscle and Nerve biopsies, and 200 Autopsy brains.

Job Description

These positions are for Neuropathologists with subspecialty expertise in the following areas: CNS tumors, Degenerative brain disease, and Neuromuscular disease. The candidate would be expected to participate in medical student education, resident training for DPM, DCP, Neurology and Neurosurgery residents, CNS frozen section duty, evening and weekend call.

The successful applicants will work in close collaboration with 28 staff in the Division of Anatomical Pathology at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre (QEII HSC), 10 staff in the Division of Neurosurgery, and 17 staff in the Division of Neurology.

The position involves clinical service, as well as a commitment to medical education and research.  The successful candidate will be eligible for a faculty position at Dalhousie University commensurate with their experience and qualifications. 

Qualifications

Expertise and/or training in Molecular Pathology or General Autopsy Pathology is considered highly desirable. Certification in Neuropathology is a requirement.
